Inventory & Closet Management - Part 2 of 4

It is very important to maintain a wardrobe that reflects your image and personal brand, especially because people will make an opinion of you a few seconds after they meet you. However, before you choose your capsule wardrobe, we have to maintain an organized closet so that we are able to add new and important clothing items, accessories, and shoes.

To maintain an organized closet, you can follow the following steps:

  1. Organize your clothes by category (tops, pants, jackets, blazers), by color, and daily activity (gym, work, special events)

  2. Review the items in your closet and start a list of items that you would like to keep. Consider donating or selling pieces that do not reflect your personal brand. Finally, put aside the pieces that need to be repaired and find a good seamstress

  3. Mix and match current pieces so that you can figure out what items you really need (coordinate tops with pants or skirts, use different shoes and accessories)

  4. Make a list of items that are missing in your closet and make sure they are aligned with your image and personal brand

Once you have the list of clothing items, accessories, and shoes that you need, you can start looking for ideas that will define your personal style in magazines, social media, and fashion sources. You can also consider brands that you admire! Also, decide if your personal style is modern, casual or professional.

Now you are ready to update your closet! Remember to enjoy the process of investing in yourself! Your style is unique! In my next blog (Part 3 of 4), I will be discussing how to design a capsule wardrobe that meets your needs.
